Clean Teeth
Sticks for cleaning teeth/chewing, sold to very low income workers close to Old Delhi station.
Photos from a watching-the-city-waking-up street walking session.

VERY cool. How did you, the visitor, figure out that was what was going on? I presume you had local culture experts as part of your field team? Or did you simply ask "what are those?!"
This made me think of companies like Unilever and P&G; P&G especially with their desire to create a database of every usage occasion around the world. So they've got footage on their server of someone in India brushing their teeth in their bathroom. But you can't get this sort of several-rings-out-from-your-usage-center data with out doing some serious cultural immersion...you've got to be there to see this and take this picture and walk away in wonderment.
Anyway, great stuff.

Lots of persons walking around using the sticks to brush teeth, plus 2 local experts.
The experience? Slightly bitter bark. But after a bit of chewing the stick becomes more like a brush.
